Tao - Observatory

Tao comprises top notch quality equipment at a unique location in South of France. Tao was founded and is operated by

Dietmar Hager, M.D. F.R.A.S. and Immo Gerber, MSc.

Immo and Dietmar are close friends and address each other as kindred intellects. They share a great deal of enthusiasm for imaging celestial objects, and thus it was a clean-cut decision to collaborate in this intention. TAO of course has an ambiguous meaning. In a cursory view it simply means triple apo observatory, as it houses Dietmar's 9 " folded TMB apo-refractor. Yet the deeper significance of TAO becomes evident to all those who have a sense for its philosophical impact. "Tao te king" in a vaster breadth is far more than Taoism. This does not necessarily imply that Immo and Dietmar are Taoists, by no means. However, as both of them feel a sincere attraction to Anthroposophy, it is not by chance that the name Tao has been chosen for the shared remote observatory.

Tao, first announced by Laotse, can hardly be translated without diluting or rather losing its anthroposophical significance. Terms like "life", "spirit", "god", "aether", "primo motore" and many more have been chosen to stand for what Laotse meant. At the end of the day every individual is invited to find an appropriate word for it, or simply let it stand as it is. Sensing the non-materialistic meaning, something that cannot be measured or gathered by technical features; and yet it has all obviously survived for such a long time in all cultures, down through the ages, and non-verbal assessment of the seemingly impalpable is a gift of a few....(more to come). Tao is member of ROSA.
